How to Get Your Business Recommended by ChatGPT and AI Search (2026 Guide)

By Dr. Farzana Irshad Munshi

More of your customers are starting their search with a question to an AI, not a query in a search bar. "What's a good dental clinic in Abu Dhabi?" "Which agency does SEO for law firms in Dubai?" The AI gives a short list of names — and if you're not on it, you never had a chance to compete. Here's a practical guide to getting your business into those answers, without the hype.

First, how AI tools actually choose who to recommend

ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overviews don't "rank" pages the way classic search does. They generate an answer by drawing on content they've been trained on and, increasingly, live information they retrieve. In simple terms, they favour businesses and pages that are:

  • Clearly described — your site states plainly what you do, for whom, and where.
  • Well-structured — headings, lists, and Q&A formats a machine can parse easily.
  • Trusted and consistent — your name, services, and location match everywhere they appear online.
  • Cited by others — mentions, reviews, and links from sources the AI already trusts.

Notice what's not on that list: tricks. There's no secret tag that forces an AI to name you. It comes down to being genuinely clear, structured, and credible.

1. Make your website unmistakably clear

AI models reward clarity. Your homepage and service pages should state, in plain language, exactly what you offer and the cities you serve. Vague taglines hurt you here. "We deliver synergistic growth solutions" tells an AI nothing; "We provide SEO and Google Ads for clinics in Dubai and Abu Dhabi" tells it everything.

2. Add structured data (schema)

Schema is code that spells out your business details — services, location, FAQs, reviews — in a format machines read directly. It's one of the most practical things you can do to become "AI-readable." FAQ schema in particular helps your answers get pulled into both AI responses and Google's answer boxes. This is standard on every page we build.

3. Publish real question-and-answer content

AI answers are built from questions. So write the questions your customers actually ask — "how much does a website cost in the UAE?", "how long does SEO take?" — and answer them clearly and honestly. Helpful, specific answers are exactly what generative engines quote. This is the heart of both GEO and good content marketing.

4. Build consistency and citations across the web

If your business name, address, and services are listed differently across your Google Business Profile, directories, and social profiles, you confuse both Google and AI. Make them identical everywhere. Then earn mentions — reviews, local listings, press, and links from reputable UAE sites. AI models lean on sources they already trust, so being referenced by them matters.

5. Keep your Google Business Profile sharp

For local queries, Google's AI features lean heavily on Business Profiles. A complete profile — correct categories, services, photos, and a steady stream of genuine reviews — directly improves your odds of being surfaced for "near me" and city-based questions in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Ajman.

What doesn't work (so don't waste money on it)

  • "Guaranteed" AI placement. No one controls what an AI says. Be sceptical of anyone promising it.
  • Keyword stuffing. Cramming phrases reads as spam to both Google and AI.
  • Thin, generic content. If your page says nothing specific, there's nothing for an AI to quote.

A realistic timeline

This is a build, not a switch. With the right foundations, businesses typically start seeing themselves referenced in AI answers within a couple of months, with momentum growing as authority builds. Anyone promising overnight results isn't being straight with you.

The takeaway

Getting recommended by ChatGPT isn't magic — it's clarity, structure, and credibility, done consistently. The same work makes you stronger in classic Google search too, so it's rarely wasted effort.
